About the Brand
Established for the last two hundred and fifty years in Bergheim, the Lorentz family are living proof of this, and here is this mediaeval town, set in the very heart of Alsace wine-growing region, they devote themselves to the cultivation of vines, which is their passion. The family tradition has been handed down unchanged from farther to son, in spite of all the vagaries of history. Each new generation has respected the tradition, adding just the right measure of imagination needed to develop the Lorentz company and bring it in line with times.
Do you know?
- Sheltered from oceanic influence by the Vosges mountains, the Alsace wine region enjoys practically the lowest rainfall in France (only 400-500 mm per year) and is blessed with a semi-continental climate, sunny, hot and dry.
- In Alsace, the wines generally take their name from the grape variety from which they are made, and not from the terroir.
- In the finest vintages some Alsace wines may be awarded one of two specific classifications: “Vendages Tardives” or “Selection de Grains Nobles”, which apply to rare, naturally rich and sweet late-harvest wines.
